Fleet Flower Club

When & Where: Meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Memorial Hall, Sandy Lane, Church Crookham. Doors open 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start.

What:

We have a varied agenda of flower demonstrations of both modern and traditional styles arranged by experts, as well as workshops
where you can learn new ways to arrange flowers and foliage to help you create ideas for use at home.

At each meeting we have a Floristry Sales Table, and a Raffle of the demonstration flowers.

We hold monthly competitions and our Annual Show each year provides the opportunity for our members to show of their talents
in flower arranging.

Looking back at 2018 & ahead in 2019:

2018 was another busy and successful year for Fleet Flower Club.
We started the year with our first ever event at Fleet Library with a demonstration entitled “Flowers in Springtime” where the audience
learnt how to condition flowers and use a supermarket bunch of flowers to create beautiful arrangements.

In July, we were delighted to support Fleet Carnival’s Family Day for the third year running giving people the chance to create their
own small arrangement to take away. In the same month we also supported Fleet Methodist Church’s Flower Festival “The Celebration
of Life” where a couple of members created a stunning “Summer Wedding” arrangement.

2018 also saw our members learn how to create arrangements with just foliage, as well as going “Beyond 3, 5 and 7” using even
instead of odd numbers in flower designs. Both workshops gave us all lots of inspiration.

In August, one of our members (and a National NAFAS demonstrator) Sandy Bailey, delighted us with stunning floral arrangements
followed by a vintage afternoon tea held at the Church on the Heath. It was a wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by everyone.

September saw several of our members support Winchester Cathedral’s Flower Festival entitled “Illumination: A Festival of Flowers”
and created a spectacular display around St Swithun’s tomb entitled “The Season”.

Our Annual Show entitled “Seasonal Inspiration” in October transformed the Crookham Memorial Hall to be filled with colour and
provided a true journey around the seasons.

2019 looks set to be another busy and exciting year, not just for Fleet Flower Club but also for NAFAS (National Association of Flower
Arrangement Societies) who celebrate its 60th anniversary. We have a day’s workshop planned to learn how to create different and
“wacky” containers, as well as our usual full programme of demonstrators, annual show (taking place on 29 June) and Open Evening
(in November). We also look forward to supporting once again some of the local events that will take place throughout 2019.

Don’t forget to check out our website (www.fleetflowerclub.co.uk) and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
@FleetFlowerClub) to find out more about what we do.

We are always pleased to welcome new members, why not come along and see what you can do with flowers.
