Fleet & District NHW was started in 1991 and now has about 260 individual areas. It covers Fleet, Church Crookham, Crookham Village, Crondall, Ewshot, Winchfield and Dogmersfield. It is run by a small committee, including a police representative, who meet every other month at Fleet Police Station. A quarterly newsletter is published and distributed to all members. There is also a dedicated website for which we will shortly publish the address. The aim of NHW is for groups of people to shoulder some of the responsibility for their own security by being alert to suspicious happenings in their neighbourhood and, if necessary, reporting it to the police or to "Crimestoppers". This does not mean that you should undertake any action that might endanger you or any other person; NHW is primarily an eyes and ears or information service. Looking after your neighbours’ security should never be regarded as snooping or curtain twitching. One other advantage of belonging to NHW is that insurance companies will normally give a discount on your premium and a further discount if you install an alarm system from a recognised company. The cost of becoming a member is minimal, we ask only that you give a pound or whatever you wish when joining to help cover our costs. Our last subscription drive was in 2000 and we are unlikely to need another in the near future. If you need more information about joining or setting up a group e-mail our secretary: barron@clements96.fsnet.co.uk You will find other e-mail addresses on the website when it is officially launched in January.
