SUMMARY OF ENGINEERING WORK AFFECTING SOUTH WEST TRAINS MAIN LINE ROUTES LONDON ( WATERLOO ) TO BOURNEMOUTH & WEYMOUTH/EXETER

ALSO FIRST GREAT WESTERN READING TO GATWICK AIRPORT SERVICE & CROSS COUNTRY SERVICES TO NORTH WEST AND NORTH EAST ENGLAND VIA READING

 

WHILST ALTERATIONS ARE NOW BEING ENTERED ON THE RELEVANT TIMETABLES,  A SUMMARY OF ENGINEERING WORK WHICH COULD POSSIBLY AFFECT TRAVELLERS FROM FLEET (ALSO STATIONS ON THE READING/GATWICK LINE) IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS IS CONTAINED IN THIS DOCUMENT:

 

 

Mon. 9th January  to Thu. 29th March 2012

Lymington Pier station will be closed and buses will connect with trains at Lymington Town .

 

 

Suns. 29th January also 19th Feb. & 14th March 2012

Cross Country services to/from Birmingham and the North West will be replaced by buses between Oxford and Leamington Spa until 1414. aprox.  Arrivals in Birmingham and north thereof will be 1 hour later than shown in the Gatwick to Reading tables and passengers from Birmingham and the North will have to leave 1 hour earlier to maintain the arrivals at Gatwick line stations and Basingstoke than shown.

South West Trains Exeter line services will be subject to retiming until mid afternoon.

First Great Western services to the West of England will be revised with some journeys involving Bus replacement.  Trains on the Basingstoke/Reading line will also be revised.

 

 

Monday 23rd & Tues. 24th January 2012

21:20 London Waterloo to Yeovil Junction will be replaced by a bus between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction.

Monday 23rd to Thurs. 26th January 2012

20:20 London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids will be replaced by a bus between Honiton and Exeter St Davids

21:10 Weymouth to London Waterloo is diverted after Woking and will not call at Weybridge, Walton-on-Thames, Surbiton or Wimbledon . A bus will run from Woking to London Waterloo. Journey times will be extended by at least 50 minutes

23:05 London Waterloo to Poole will be replaced by a bus between Brockenhurst and Poole . Journey times will be extended by at least 40 minutes

 


Tues. 24th January 2012 to Friday 27th January 2012

00:05 London Waterloo to Bournemouth will be replaced by a bus between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth

00:30 Eastleigh to Portsmouth Harbour will be replaced by a bus throughout. Journey times will be extended by at least 40 minutes

05:10 Exeter St Davids to London Waterloo will be replaced by a bus between Exeter St Davids and Honiton. The bus will leave Exeter St Davids at the earlier time of 04:19. Journey times will be extended by at least 50 minutes

Sat. 28th & Sun. 29th January 2012 ALSO Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February 2012 (when slightly different arrangements may apply)

 

The lines will be closed between Andover and Salisbury late Saturday evening and all early Sunday morning.:

Buses will replace trains between Andover and Tisbury.

Late Saturday evening and all day Sunday the lines will be closed between St Denys and Fareham and Southern trains from Victoria and Brighton will be diverted to Portsmouth and SWT services will run between Eastleigh and Portsmouth instead of Southampton.  Connecting buses will serve intermediate stations via Netley.

First Great Western

The following alterations will apply:

Trains from Cardiff Central / Bristol Temple Meads to Brighton /  Portsmouth Harbour are diverted between Southampton Central and Fareham .  Journey times will be  extended by up to 12 minutes.

These diversions will offer additional connections to and from Fareham and Portsmouth at Eastleigh .

20:03 Portsmouth Harbour to Westbury will depart Portsmouth Harbour 8 minutes earlier

Buses will replace trains between North Camp and Shalford Until 1600 aprox. (previously shown as ‘all day Sunday’).

 

On certain January weekends the advertised Bus services in the Reading/Didcot/Oxford areas will not operate and trains will be re-instated

16:04, 21:35 Bristol Temple Meads to Salisbury - buses replace trains between Westbury and Salisbury

22:15, 23:35 London Waterloo to  Salisbury (2307 & 0024 (Sun) from B’stoke) - are diverted after Basingstoke calling additionally at Southampton Central

Buses will replace trains between Reading and Guildford until 1200 aprox.

Bournemouth line services will be replaced by buses between Brockenhurst & Bournemouth ALL DAY

Non Stop connecting buses will run between both Southampton Airport P’way and Southampton Central and Bournemouth .. Other connecting buses will run between Brockenhurst and New Milton & Brockenhurst and Poole .  A shuttle service of trains will run between Bournemouth and Weymouth .

 

 

Saturday 18th and Sundays 19th, 26th February & 4th March 2012

Buses will replace trains between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth with fast connecting buses running between Tiverton Parkway and Plymouth .

 

Sunday 19th February

Buses will replace trains between Winchester and Eastleigh with South West trains diverted via Havant and Cross Country trains via an alternative route between Basingstoke and Southampton, not serving Winchester or Southampton Airport P’way. Most Cross Country trains will not run between Southampton and Bournemouth .  Similar work will also take place on 26th Feb. & 4th March but on this date buses will also replace some trains between Basingstoke, Winchester and Eastleigh .

PASSENGERS MAY HAVE TO LEAVE STATIONS ON CONNECTING ROUTES UP TO 1 HOUR EARLIER TO MAINTAIN LAST ARRIVALS AT FLEET AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO DELAYS UP TO ONE HOUR ARRIVING AT DESTINATIONS ON AFFECTED ROUTES.
