Approximately 450 children, accompanied by many helpers and parents, walked in the Children's Procession on Sunday 11th July. The theme this year was Heroes & Heroins. They
were led by the lively Beatrootsbateria Samba Band, Stilt walkers and the
Carnival Princesses. Class 1

4 St John Ambulance Badgers & Cadets The Early Challenge Trophy, for the Entry Best Depicting the Carnival Theme, was awarded to Tigglets Montessori Nursery with their entry entitled "Tigglets to the Rescue - Unsung Heroes The Worker’s Hospital Committee Challenge Cup, for the Best Entry in the Show was awarded to Heatherside Schools Association. Procession organsier, Sue McLaren would like to thank all the children for being so well behaved and their helpers and parents for all the hard work that had obviously been put into the entries. The standard of the entries was, as always, extremely high. Also many
thanks to the marshalls, judges and assembly area officials without whom this
event could not take place.

Deputies Brook Tiller (left) and Francesca Ward The Princess selection disco party was the first event of the Carnival year 2004, it was held on Sat. 8th May at The Crookham Memorial hall, Church Crookham. A total of 72 girls attended and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The three judges were Beth Aberdeen a local Nurse , Christine Macfarlane a sales negotiator for a local estate agent and Raymond Cluness a fitness and diet consultant, had the difficult task of picking just 3 girls from all the lovely entrants. The Princess for Carnival 2004 is 10 year old Georgia Pearson of Heatherside Junior School, her favourite subjects are Art & History, Geogia is in the Scouts and enjoys running as a hobby. Her deputies are Francesca Ward, (right in picture) 9 years old, who has three elder brothers, a pupil of All saints Junior School, she likes maths and history best of all. Franscecas hobbies are dancing and running. And finally Brook Tiller, (left in picture) 11 years old, another Heatherside pupil who likes English and science subjects at school. Brook would like to be an actress when she leaves school, she enjoys swimming and running in her spare time.. All three girls
were crowned by last years royalty, Jo Smith, Lauren Davey and Georgina
Templeton. And presented with flowers by the event organizer Anne Bellicoso The Princess
and her deputies have a busy time ahead of them taking part in local fetes and
