Fleet's new leisure centre is starting to take shape opposite the old centre in Hitchens Lane. It is being built by Willmott Dixon who started the work before Christmas.

The centre boosts an energy efficient sloping roof using a steel structure delivered to the site in nearly 1,500 parts. It will hold three swimming pools, a gym, climbing wall and a large sports hall. The steel skeleton will be clad and roofed to make the centre water-tight ready for the internal work to start.

The centre is on time for completion in the spring of 2017.
