Farnborough
weekend flight increase rejected due to the detrimental effects of noise and
disturbance
It
is great news that Rushmoor Council value peace at weekends. Let us hope Hart
Council will have a similar view when it comes to the Pyestock Horror
application.
Cllr
Neville Dewey said: “People do have the right to expect some privacy, some
amount of rest from the noise that goes on in this very busy world that we now
live in.”
Rushmoor’s
formal decision was based on:
“..to
increase weekend and Bank Holiday movements from 2,500 to 5,000 per annum is
likely to result in an adverse impact upon the amenities of the surrounding
residential properties, principally due to increased noise and disturbance at
times when residents are more likely to be at home.”
The
Pru are currently proposing significant HGV traffic over 360 days per year x 24
hours per day, including every Weekend, the majority of Bank Holidays and all
through the night!
We
wonder how long will it be before they apply to increase the number of
movements?
TAG,
(Farnborough Airport), voluntarily entered a legal agreement at their Outline
Airport Planning application stage to never increase the amount of weekend
flight movements for commercial reasons. Yet, within 4 years, they tried to
double the number of flights.
This
is why the name of our concerned resident’s group ‘Stop Pyestock bLot Act
Today’ (SPLAT) is so relevant. We do not want a 24 x 7 environmentally
unfriendly mega depot with HGV movements every minute of the day and every day.
We need to stop the 24 x 7 mega depot outline planning application.
Pyestock
may be in need of appropriate development, but a mega depot is just not
appropriate. The Pru are trying to suggest they will not impact the rural
character of the area – yes they will!
Who
knew what the existing Pyestock was like until the developer focused on the
photos and tours of the derelict buildings? Why did they not exhibit a display
of photos of mega sheds, loading bays and HGVs? – Have you seen any from the
Pru?
